Learnin' is Hard
SO... this is my analog art world and the last 3 weeks have been nearly devoid of analog-ness. I'm posting here to recollect just how incredibly hard it can be to learn new software and new techniques. Specifically, I have been spending my time learning Pixologic's Zbrush. It's SUCH a different way of working and thinking that your average 3d artist must completely rethink their approach to creating work. Zbrush has a slight hurdle, the interface. Once you have navigation down though, creating sculpts is closer to real sculpting than anything I've ever experienced in the digital realm.
But, you say, this is a blog about your analog work, Michael... what gives?!? Thats what's sooooo cool. I really feel like I am working in clay when I'm in Zbrush. The feeling is closer than anything else I've tried, it's a win.
That's the good. Here's the bad and the ugly. Understanding the workflow, from ignorance to pipeline functionality in 3 weeks has shaved years off of my life. I've worked harder, but never have I been stretched so thin for so long.
The point to my story is this: Don't trust old ladies in gingerbread houses. No wait, that's not the moral here. It's DON'T QUIT. Ever. For any reason. That's how you succeed folks. You don't wish youway to the top, you WORK your way there.
Get enough sleep too.
